Care for Your IM Floor and Trunk Mats
With proper care, your premium IM mats will continue to give your JDM car a luxurious appearance for years to come.
Routine Care of Your IM Mats
You can prevent the need for frequent deep cleansing by immediately cleaning food and drink spills. When mats become soiled, they can be cleaned using the following process.
Step 1: Remove mats from your car, shake off any loose dirt particles, and vacuum.
Step 2: Hose mats and pat to remove excess water.
Step 3: Spray mats with either a detergent spray purchased from your local automotive store or mixed at home using mild laundry detergent or dish soap..
Step 4: Scrub mats lightly with a soft bristle brush.
Step 5: Rinse mats thoroughly with a water hose to remove all detergent residue.
Step 7: Air dry mats in a well-ventilated space out of direct sunlight. A fan or heated dryer will reduce drying time.
Deep Cleansing Procedures
After vacuuming in Step 1 of the Routine Care process, you may notice stains on your car mats. Pre-treating these stains will make them easier to remove. Follow these steps to pre-treat mat stains.
- Identify the stain – is it food, oil, beverage, etc?
- Select your stain remover based on the type of stain, using either a commercial carpet cleaner or a household product such as vinegar, baking soda, laundry detergent, or dish detergent. Apply the selected stain remover to the stained portion of your mat.
- Work the stain remover into the stained portion of the mat with a soft-bristled brush or sponge, allowing the product to sit on the stain for several minutes or according to the recommendations of the product manufacturer.
- Use a paper towel or cloth to remove excess product.
- Repeat the process if necessary for tougher stains.
- Continue to Step 2 of the Routine Care process above, hosing off your mats.
